Focusing on bringing innovative event back in 2020.
For Immediate Release
New York, NY – July 15, 2019 – International Equestrian Group (IEG), organizers of the Central Park Horse Show (CPHS), have announced the 2019 edition of the show, originally scheduled from September 18-22, 2019, will be canceled due to scheduling conflicts surrounding the CSI 5* event.
“After discussing with our internal team and sponsors, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2019 event due to the conflicts of other 5* competitions during and within consecutive weeks,” said Mark Bellissimo, CEO of International Equestrian Group (IEG). “We are very disappointed, as the Central Park Horse Show provides an unparalleled opportunity to bring equestrian sport to a mainstream audience, but we feel this decision is necessary for the long-term success of the show and is in the best interest of the competitors and their horses. We are focused on bringing back the event in 2020 in an enhanced format and mitigating the date conflicts.”
Mark Bellissimo and team conceptualized CPHS six years ago in an effort to bring equestrian sport to the masses through the organization of an elite competition in the heart of New York City. The competition, hosted over five days annually in Wollman Rink, showcased the equestrian disciplines of Show Jumping, Arena Eventing, Dressage, Hunters, and Arabians, throughout its duration. The event concluded with the immensely popular Family Day, which allowed city-goers and horse enthusiasts alike the opportunity to experience the magic of horses for free throughout the day on Sunday.
